About

Our Mission:

Our mission is to proclaim and demonstrate the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ by meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of men, women, and children who are homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless.

Our Vision:

Our vision is that God will use us to build a community of surrendered believers in Jesus Christ who will then, in turn, join us in reaching the lost.

Who We Are:

God’s Haven Ministries is a Christ centered, 501c3 volunteer-run ministry that reaches out to men, women, and children who may be living in poverty or experiencing homelessness. We seek to be the first step in assisting them to create a new life for themselves. It is a common misconception that the majority of homeless individuals are homeless because they simply do not want to work. To the contrary, research shows that this is true of only a very small percentage of the homeless. Most have fallen on hard times due to job loss, not enough income, substance abuse, and medical problems/bills– circumstances that could happen to anyone.

While the causes of a person or families becoming homeless are varied and many, the feelings of despair and hopelessness are common to all. We are blessed in the Jackson area to have various churches and organizations that do an excellent job ministering and serving the homeless through food, clothing and shelter. We do not aspire to replace these current services, rather we seek, through God’s help, to enhance, expand and work with these services as we bridge the service gap. We seek to give hope and guidance for a brighter future.

What We Do:

Shelters for Women and Children
We not only offer food and shelter to homeless women and children, serve as a life training center, providing assistance in the areas of discipleship, job/life skills, healthcare, parenting, and other support services. Our end goal is for the individual or family to return to society as productive, confident citizens. It is our belief that true restoration can only be found through meeting a person’s spiritual needs as well as the physical, for we understand that when we confess our need for Christ Jesus we find eternal life through His sacrifice.

Monday Night Madness Bus Ministry
Every Monday night we pick up 120+ children from local apartment buildings and local hotels (where homeless families are residing). With the help of 30+ volunteers, we feed them a hot meal, play games, learn scripture, study God’s Word, and preach the life changing, good news of Jesus. Every fourth Monday night, FunTime Skateland(add a link) in Pearl ,MS, opens their doors to us, free of charge and we spend time skating with the children to Christian music. Hot meals and good times are enjoyed by all! Our end goal is for the children to witness the love of Christ through our volunteers and surrender their lives to the Lord.

Wednesday Night Partnership with Jackson Street Ministries
Wednesday nights are a time to go into the streets of Jackson and seek men and women who are looking for a way off the streets. We provide sandwiches and occasionally hot meals to those living on the street. This is a great way to involve the women living in our shelters. They are able to go back to the same streets they came from and share how God has transformed their lives.
